In 1974,

Holden Mitchell partnered with a Lewiston area judge to build and open Kootenai County Title Company. They undertook a daunting task. Any document that pertained to real estate in Kootenai County was compiled and indexed geographically. This information had been “filmed” at the courthouse. This allowed us to be the best real estate information source in North Idaho. We have a complete set of records since Kootenai County was formed.   At that time, everything was handwritten in tract books.

In 1980,

we began using a computerized system for escrow closings, and in 1990, we began doing the same for county records. Kootenai Title began business with a straightforward premise: “Always work with the contractor and the customers to give them the best service possible for the lowest price available. By making sure we understand the process, we can save them as much money as possible.” That goal remains the same today. As agents for Chicago Title Insurance Company, one of the largest in the world, Kootenai Title offers full-service Title and Escrow services from some of the most experienced individuals in the industry.

We have been

the premier title company for many large projects including McEuen Terrace Condominiums, Kootenai Medical Center and the Ice Plant Development. As in the past, Kootenai Title remains committed to the community and is a participating member with local organizations such as the North Idaho Building Contractors Association, the Multiple Listing Service, the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce and Concerned Businesses of North Idaho. We feel it is very important to give back and therefore make contributions to the Salvation Army, the Kootenai Health Foundation, the United Way and others.

In July of 2006,

a group of local investors purchased Kootenai Title and in October, after doing business in the same location for over 30 years, Kootenai Title moved to a brand new building located at 1450 Northwest Blvd. in Coeur d’Alene. Despite the recent changes Kootenai Title will continue to be a local company. We have always strived to meet the demands of our customers with the utmost professionalism and customer service and as the market grows in the future we intend on growing with it.
